Livonia Junior Athletic Laegue Code Of Conduct
PLAYERS
It is expected that players will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. This includes not only on the playing court, but the bench area, hallways, and parking lots as well.
1. Taunting an opponent will not be tolerated. This includes verbal taunts and hand or body gestures, etc. First Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification
2. Players or Coaches may not use profanity. First Offense: Technical Foul, (Disqualification left to referees discretion). Second Offense: Automatic disqualification and possible suspension per league review.
3. Players may not make verbal threats to an opponent, coach, or spectator. First Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and possible suspension per league review.
4. Fighting will not be tolerated. First Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and suspension. Length of suspension per league review.
5. Players will treat game officials with respect. Arguing of calls, throwing the ball, ignoring referee instructions, inappropriate gesturing will not be tolerated. First Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and possible suspension per league review.
 
COACHES
It is understood that coaches are role models for their players and will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. They are also ultimately responsible for the behavior of their bench personnel, including players and assistant coaches. Coaches will also be asked to take responsibility for the conduct of their spectators. A referee may ask a coach to intercede with specific instances.
1. Coaches will address game officials in an appropriate manner. Arguing of calls is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. First Offense: Technical Foul. Second Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and possible suspension per league review.
2. Coaches are to refrain from the use of profanity. First Offense: Technical Foul. Second Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and possible suspension per league review.
3. Coaches may not address players on the opposing team in a negative fashion. First Offense: Technical Foul. Second Offense: Technical Foul, disqualification, and possible suspension per league review.
 
SPECTATORS
Spectators are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. Cheering and positive encouragement are the only ways spectators are to express themselves during a game. Spectators are also expected to conduct themselves appropriately in the gym, hallways, and parking lots.
1. Spectators may not use profanity or make verbal threats. First Offense: Spectator will be asked to leave the building. Future participation pending league review.
2. Spectators’ harassment of game officials and league personnel will not be tolerated. First Offense: Technical Foul charged against the coach and spectator must leave the building. Second Offense: Technical Foul charged against the coach, coach disqualification, and spectator must leave the building. In all cases future participation pending league review.
3. Spectators must control their children at all times. This includes before and after games. Children must be seated with their parent during the game.
4. Children may not play on the sidelines, in the hallways, or out in the parking lot. Spectators who do not abide by this will be asked to leave.
 
MISCELLANEOUS
LJAL participants must abide by all rules in any facility being used.
To the extent these standards and penalties are in conflict with the LJAL Basketball rules, the rules will prevail.
Livonia Public Schools DO NOT allow food or drinks in ANY of their gyms.
